Barcelona, Real Madrid players use offshore Madeira companies

The Portuguese journalist João Pedro Martins and television channel RTP have conducted an  investigation the use of offshore companies in the Portuguese tax haven of Madeira by the Spanish football players Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, with the help of a Spanish businessman based in the tax haven of Andorra. Alonso is the sole shareholder of a company, Kardzali and Mascherano similarly owns another, Anadyr Overseas, and the pair transferred a combined total of at least 5m Euros in image rights to these companies: this appears to be a tactic that British football players have exploited too.  The programme has been covered (in Spanish) here.
