Londongrad - the world's laundry

Following on from our brief blog on non-doms, we now have this story, from the Sydney Morning Herald:

"Alexander Zvygintsev, Russia's Deputy Prosecutor-General, said Britain and Israel harboured more Russian criminals than any other countries. He told the newspaper Rossiiskaya Gazeta: "It is no coincidence the capital of [Britain] is often called 'Londongrad'. It seems that London, as a major financial centre, is turning into a giant laundrette for laundering criminally sourced funds."

Mr Zvygintsev also accused Britain of flouting the United Nation's Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, saying it often granted asylum status to fugitive Russians on fabricated grounds and then refused to extradite them "for political reasons"."

We don't know if there are politics behind this prosecutor's statements, but there are any number of other indications about London. It is to Britain's great shame. Yet again.
