The Lusaka Declaration on Mining Taxation

Alvin Mosioma of TJN4Africa spoke last week at a meeting organised by the International alliance on Natural Resources in Africa (IANRA) and Caritas Zambia, with support from Netherlands' NIZA.

The outcome was the The Lusaka Declaration on Mining Taxation, which was handed to the Zambian government.

The declaration questions the lack of transparency in mining contracts across Africa, and calls on African governments to enact and implement fair and equitable revenue sharing mechanisms, in an environment of transparency. It also calls on African governments to share experiences in the area, on donors to help build civil society capacity - and much more.
