Launch of TJN Norway

From Oslo:

On Monday, November 29, Tax Justice Network – Norway held its official
launch in Oslo.

The launch was accompanied with the public debate “Can Norway take the lead in the global fight against tax havens?”. The discussion focused on Norwegian international strategies, and national implementation of country-by-country reporting.

John Christensen, Director of the TJN International Secretariat, dynamically spurred the debate in an introduction via video-skype( thus overcoming fickle transport and bad weather.) On the panel were representatives from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, parliamentarians, the tax authorities, a representative from The Commission on Capital Flight from Developing Countries and Sigrid Klæboe Jacobsen, the newly elected chair of TJN-N.

The new organisation will the coming year focus on country-by-country reporting, automatic information exchange and promoting the Financial Secrecy Index.

Members of TJN-Norway are:

Unio (The Confederation of Unions for Professionals)
Kirkens Nødhjelp (Norwegian Church Aid)
Skatterevisorenes forening (Norwegian Association of Tax Auditors and Tax
Accountants)

Fremtiden i våre hender (The Future in our Hands)
